Deadlines

As each of our children would reach the age to enter the Pre-K program in our public schools, we would watch for the lottery registration period to assure that we got our child’s name in the drawing.  The registration period would last for a well defined period of time following which there would be a lottery drawing at the administration building.  Andrea would usually attend the drawing along with several other parents who would all crowd into a small room hoping that their children would be chosen for the school program.  One year a man came running into the room just before the drawing with his child’s paperwork in his hands.  He attempted to hand it to the administrator in charge.  This father, who assumed that he would be able to enter his child into the lottery at the last moment, was surprised when the administrator refused to take his late application.  The man became indignant, then even spent some time begging, as the administrator explained that he was only authorized to accept applications during the approved time period.  Finally the man grabbed his paperwork and left in a huff.  The administrator said nothing else and continued with the lottery as had been planned.
As we conclude the book of Revelation we see a final division of the people.  People are judged by two factors, either by their works, or by their inclusion in the book of life.  No person that depends upon their works is proved holy.  Only those in the book of life those that are dependent on the works of Christ, are found acceptable.  It is not a time to change plans, to try to change alliances, or to change believes, it is a time of judgement based on earthly choices.  It is too late to do anything differently.
What will you be depending upon in that judgement?
